Where and when do I meet for class?

[-]
Your meeting place depends on your class type.

Usual meeting spots:
  • Beginning skiers and all snowboarders—during Sunday night check-in, talk to the
Ski School representative about where to meet.
  • 100% ski (intermediate through advanced)—in front of the Super Sign*
  • 100% racing—under the Broadway Express (Chair 1) lift
  • 50% ski/50% race—between the Super Sign* and the Broadway Express (Chair 1)
       lift
  • 75% ski/25% race—left of the Super Sign*
    * The Super Sign is the very large electronic sign, slope side of the Main Lodge to the left of Broadway
       Express (Chair 1) lift.
  • What if my class doesn't fit my skiing level or goals?

    [-]
Instructors tailor classes to the majority of class members, and you may find your goals are different.

Talk to your instructor right away (best by mid-day Monday). Your instructor may be able to accommodate you or will arrange for you to join another class.

What happens if I miss Sunday night check-in?

    [-]
If you miss Sunday check-in, call John Catozzi (858-663-2249) or Chris Starczak (310-245-0453), and let them know when you will arrive.

You can pick up your registration materials on Monday, 8-8:30 AM, in the Ski School, slope-side to the right of the Broadway Express Chair 1 lift.

If you know you'll miss check-in on Sunday, consider asking a friend to pick up your packet for you.

How much should I tip my instructor?

    [-]
The general rule of thumb is $30-40 per person for the week, but you decide.

Usually someone in your class volunteers to collect the money and get a thank-you card so your class can present the tip to the instructor at Friday's banquet.

Where should I sit during the banquet?

    [-]
Classes and their instructors usually sit together. Usually one student from each class arrives early enough to stake out a table.

What if I have to leave camp early because of emergency, injury, or illness?

    [-]
If you have to leave early, notify your instructor (and give them your lift ticket, if you have one).

Then contact one of the camp coordinators: John Catozzi (858-663-2249) or Chris Starczak (310-245-0453).

    What's early-bird and after-camp skiing?

    [-]
Some members come early and ski or ride a day or two before camp. If you want, select the 9-day package for lodging from Friday to Sunday.

And, if you want to ski on the Saturday and/or Sunday after camp, you can buy discounted lift tickets for those days too (although you might want to wait until Friday to be sure conditions are good.)
    s
If you need lift tickets for your early-bird or after-camp skiing, contact the camp coordinators, John Catozzi or Chris Starczak (click one of these e-mail links) or call: John Catozzi (858-663-2249) or Chris Starczak (310-245-0453).

If I stay at the Inn, do I have access to a kitchen?

    [-]
Yes, all participants staying at Mammoth Mountain Inn are assigned either to a condo with a kitchen or to a room without a kitchen but with shared kitchen facilities nearby.

If I'm staying at the Inn, where do I park?

    [-]
If you're staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn, your check-in packet includes a parking pass, which allows you to park in the lots in front of or under the Inn. Display the parking pass in your car at all times.

Covered parking under the Inn is limited and is first-come, first-served.

Is there a jacuzzi for my end-of-day soak?

    [-]
The Inn has 4 jacuzzis (3 indoor and 1 outdoor) and a pool on the west side, 2nd floor across from room 606.

Are there laundry facilities at the Inn?

    [-]
The Inn's coin-operated laundry is on the west side, basement level, next to the elevator.

Can a friend come in for a few days and stay on the sofa in my condo?

    [-]
    Yes, BUT ONLY IF—
All the people in your condo or room say it's OK.
You call  or contact John Catozzi or Chris Starczak ahead of time.
Your friend pays the Ski, Ride and Race Camp room rate to John Catozzi or Chris Starczak.

What is the Inn's check-out time?

    [-]
Plan to check out of your Mammoth Mountain Inn condo on Sunday by 11 AM.

Where can I shower/change after I've checked out and skied on Sunday?

    [-]
Shower and change in the jacuzzi room in the Inn, west side, second floor, across from room 606.

    What are the special events?

    [-]
Thursday, 3:30-5:30 PM: Happy Hour with free munchies and drink specials. Tusks bar in the Main Lodge, 3rd floor, west end. Invite your instructor!

Friday, 6:30-9 PM: Buffet banquet and no-host bar, with raffle and race awards. Bring your banquet ticket (included in your orientation packet).

And check your orientation packet for special deals on the mountain & in town.

Do I have to stay at the Inn to be part of camp? [-]
No. Many camp participants stay at the Inn, but many prefer to stay in town.

If you're not staying at the Inn, select the package without lodging.
